Ever thought that the reason you are not sleeping well could be down to your mattress?
Your mattress should be turned every six month, vacuumed regularly and replaced every 10 years. Vacuuming it regularly helps to get rid of any dust mites that may have decided to make your mattress their home. We all sweat during the night and this tends to end up in the mattress making it the perfect environment for the little mites! Add the skin that we shed each night too and they have a meal too!
I know this isn’t a fact you really want to know about but the average bed carries around 10,000 dust mites! Using a mattress protector that is washed every week will hopefully help to keep them at bay.
Another area not to ignore is the bathroom. Make sure you wash your towels once a week and it’s on a 60 degrees wash too so as to eradicate the staphylococcus aureus which is a microbe that is easily transferred from your skin to the towel.
If you have a cat or a dog, regular vacuuming and cleaning of all carpets, rugs and floors is a must to keep everything hair free. You also need to ensure that everyone in the house who touches the animals thoroughly washes their hands each time they stroke them too to prevent the spreading of germs and parasites that the animal may be carrying.
Keeping your house spotlessly clean will hopefully help keep everyone in the family healthy too.
